We are currently hiring for a Full-time Assistant Transportation Director,
Human Resources & Administrative Coordinator, Apprentice,
Part-time Van operators, and Full-time/Part-time Bus operators.

Assistant Transportation Director:
We're looking for someone who is passionate about public transportation, has at least two years of experience in public transportation, and has excellent communication and very strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities:

Supervises Operations Staff
-
Acts as the Safety Officer
-
Trains employees
-
Manages employees' weekly schedules
-
Ensures compliance
-
Ability to plan transit routes and schedules
-
Familiar with Watauga County & Town of Boone
-
Occasionally drive a bus
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience in public transportation
-
Must maintain a Class B CDL with a P endorsement
-
Good driving record
-
Punctual and Dependable
-
Supervisory experience
-
Creates a supportive and open-communication work environment

Human Resources & Administrative Coordinator:
Performs administrative work assisting the Director, department heads, and employees with the administration of the personnel management program, and related work as apparent or assigned. Executes HR responsibilities and assists both administrative and operational personnel by performing the responsibilities listed in the full description.
Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience equal to an associate's degree in office administration or related field

Apprentice:
We're looking for someone who is passionate about public transportation, is a recent graduate with GIS and/or Planning background, has excellent communication skills, and eager to learn!
Responsibilities:
-
Analyze AppalCART data and create reports
-
Working with Executive Director to design routes and schedules
-
Creating media materials
-
Manages employees' weekly schedules
-
Maintaining and updating route information, maps, and schedules
-
Updating AppalCART's GTFS feed for Google Maps
-
Learning Dispatch operations including Paratransit and Rural Routes
Qualifications:
-
Recent graduate with a B.S. in Geography and/or Planning
-
Knowledge of GIS
-
Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
-
Ability to collaborate and work with other staff members
-
Ability to quickly learn operations software and programs
-
Interest in public transportation!

The Apprenticeship position is a one-year full-time position. Ideal term of employment is June 1, 2023 - May 31, 2024.
